As the name suggests, this was the first Ducati Monster to use the 4v Liquid Cooled Desmo engine from the 916 Superbike, and lifting the performance to new levels, with a top speed approaching 150mph, and mid 11s quarter miles.
As the flagship ‘naked’ of it’s day the S4 had a very high specification which included Brembo Gold calipers with Brembo master cylinder, Brembo rear master cylinder, fully adjustable 43mm USD Showa forks, progressive rear suspension linkage with Sachs monoshock and aluminium swingarm, tubular steel trellis frame, adjustable levers, clear and concise analogue instruments, dry clutch and 50mm throttle bodies controlled by a Marelli Magneti ECU.
Carbon fibre parts abound and this bike has the (must have) Carbon Termignoni exhausts, Carbon fibre exhaust shield, Carbon fibre timing belt covers, Carbon fibre rear hugger and chainguard, Carbon fibre front hugger, Carbon fibre side panels, Carbon fibre belly pan, Carbon fibre yoke protector and a Ducati Performance carbon tank. Rizoma mirrors, Renthal grips and a Colour coded seat cowl are also fitted.
The distinctive Ducati Desmo V-Twin engine sounds great and offers torquey, grunty performance. This bike is highly original, very clean, and fit and healthy.
