The Ducati 749/999 followed the much loved 748/916/996/998 Massimo Tamburini designed series. Penned by Pierre Terblanche, in bigger capacity 999 form it became one of the most successful race bikes every produced by Ducati Corse, winning 3 out of 5 World Superbike titles between 2003 and 2007. 

The 749 Dark was so named because of it’s individual Nero Opaco (Matt Black) paintwork which gave it a very stealthy look. It’s 748cc Testastretta L-Twin motor produced 105ps and was mounted in a traditional lightweight, but very strong trellis frame constructed from ALS450 alloy, and finished in silver. Suspension was courtesy of Showa at both ends, with 43mm diameter fully adjusted TiN coated USD forks and progressive linkage fully adjustable rear monoshock. Brembo calipers featured on both front and rear brakes, with the front 4 pots grabbing 320mm floating front discs and the rear twin pot a 245mm disc. Very pretty 5-spoke ‘Y’ shaped alloy rims were fitted, as was a modern LCD instrument panel. As was traditional for Ducatis of the era, Marelli electronic fuel injection and engine management kept fuel pumping through the twin 54mm throttle bodies

This particular bike is completely stock, standard and original, exactly as it left the Ducati factory, other than for a carbon fibre rear hugger

Any Ducati Superbike of this vintage is now becoming more sought after, and ever more collectable. This bike will appeal to any buyer that places great importance on originality, mileage and condition, three of the most important factors, in our view, when purchasing any collectible car or motorcycle

These T100 900s were launched in 2021 with the later liquid cooled 900cc motor. As with all previous T100s they retain the character of the original ’60s Bonnevilles

Ultimately, these later 900s had more power, lighter weight, and improved suspension and brakes over their predecessors, and for the first time switchable traction control alongside ABS

The specification included traditional spoked chrome wheels with larger 18” dia. front, chrome handlebars, mirrors, tank badge and instrument bezels, brushed steel 2-2 peashooter exhausts, rubber knee pads, twin clocks and black and silver cylinder barrels

The V85 TT is Moto Guzzi’s big all terrain vehicle, ‘TT’ signifying ‘Tutto Terreno’ or All Terrain in English, and not the more usual ‘Tourist Trophy’ generally associated with the letters TT and anything motorcycling. It utilises Guzzi’s typical drivetrain layout of a transverse mounted 90 degree air cooled V-Twin along with shaft drive

This particular bike is has a couple of useful options fitted which include a GIVI Trekker Dolomiti top box, Engine bars, Pyramid rear hugger and Pyramid front fender extender

The mechanical specification includes 41mm diameter USD KYB forks and KYB rear shock, both with adjustable preload and rebound damping, and offering  170mm of wheel travel. The frame design is Guzzi’s traditional steel trellis type, but uses the engine as a stressed member. Brakes utilise 320mm diameter front discs and 4 pot Brembo calipers, aided by ABS. Beautiful spoked wheels are of 19 inch and 17 inch diameter front and rear respectively. 23 litre fuel tank ensures decent range and the instrument panel is a very attractive TFT unit with well thought out graphics and multifunction fuel computer. There are 3 rider modes, ‘Road’ ‘Rain’ and ‘Adventure’ with revised engine maps, Traction Control, Cruise Control, LED headlamps, tail light and indicators, with daytime running lights (DRLs) and a standard fitment rear luggage rack ready to hang (optional) panniers and top box. As with all Guzzis, it‘s a bike of individuality, character, (relative) rarity and desirability, with an appeal all of it’s own, and quite different qualities to the more mainstream offerings from other manufacturers

The 954 is a significant model in the Fireblade’s history being the last of the Tadao Baba designed bikes, prior to the introduction of the bigger capacity CBR1000RR. Said by many to be the best Fireblade ever, due to it’s light weight and free revving, beautifully smooth engine, these are an incredibly refined Superbike with peerless Honda build quality.

As such, this is still a very light, and quick, untemperamental Superbike more than capable of holding it’s own against far newer, more expensive bikes….

…in fact, it’s better than that, it’s a truly sublime sports motorcycle

Voxan Black Magic 996 V2 in Aluminium Brossé

Voxan was founded by French entrepreneur Jacques Gardette, and the Black Magic was the ‘creme de la creme’ of the Voxan range. Very much a limited production ‘numbered’ special, intended to ‘showcase’ Voxan, initially there were 250 of these handbuilt bespoke models planned. Actual numbers built are hard to quantify but, from what we can gather, 198 were actually produced. We are happy to be corrected on this…

The chassis was designed by esteemed race engineer Alain Chevallier, utilising a double tubular frame with factory adjustable headstock and swingarm mounting points. The motor was produced by Sodemo Moteurs with input from Renault F1 engineers, and featured dry sump oil in frame lubrication and a Magneti Marelli fuel injection and engine management system

The motor was a 72 degree V-Twin of 996cc capacity and developed a lazy 100bhp (the maximum French law would allow) with 97 Nm torque. Having ridden this bike over some mileage, the power delivery is beautifully smooth in the mid to upper ranges, and performance decently quick, with good brakes, and genuinely very planted handling. See later text regarding exhaust note, it sounds fabulous whether on or off the throttle…

The styling is quite unique with the fuel tank and scrambler-esqe side routed exhausts clearly being very distinctive. Perhaps, there is commonality with certain Nortons, or some might say a Hesketh, but this is a very, very individual machine

This bike has PowerTech carbon style slip on exhaust cans with removable baffles fitted. They sound truly superb, actually quite incredible, particularly on the over run, but we do also have the original silencers and they come with the bike

The specification further included a 21 litre brushed aluminium fuel tank, Brembo 4 piston Gold Series calipers, 320mm diameter floating discs, Marzochhi 41mm dia. inverted fully adjustable forks, WP horizontally mounted adjustable monoshock rear suspension and Bespoke adjustable rearsets

This bike is no.147, and has some nice provenance. These Black Magics were all but impossible to source for UK buyers, but during 2006, Phantom Motorcycles in Barton on Humber, a designated Voxan (UK) distributor, had managed to secure this one for it’s original owner Mr Butler of Scunthorpe..

..as such it was the first Black Magic to arrive in the UK and, naturally, journalists were interested. With Mr Butler’s permission, the bike was magazine featured, being provided by Phantom Motorcycles to the journals, prior to Mr Butler taking delivery. Copies of those magazines, and the bike featured within, are within the history file, essentially immortalising it for all time

Mr Butler retained the bike until 2009, and it has then been in the same ownership for 15 years before coming to us. Conscientiously owned and maintained by a collector of predominantly British bikes, that collection has recently been sold and with it this Voxan

It’s not clear how many ultimately made it to the UK, but it is safe to say very few indeed, perhaps single digits…

In terms of finding another for sale, then in the UK it would be all but impossible. Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who passed in 2017, owned one and that bike did sell through a UK auction recently. Google will provide those details

A handful can be found in France for sale, and all at a price level that puts this one at the lower end (actually the cheapest)

Truly a collectors’ bike of extreme rarity. One that will turn heads and create interest around it wherever it goes, and yet completely docile and usable. Fabulous bike…

The Superdual is a go anywhere adventure bike, and is exceptionally well equipped with Brembo brakes, Braided brake lines, Adjustable 45mm inverted forks, Sachs rear shock absorber with remotely adjustable preload, Adjustable handlebars, Touring windscreen, Driving lights, Engine protection bars, Sump guard, Hand Guards, 12v auxiliary power socket Luggage rails/rack and Givi pannier boxes

With long travel suspension, allied to it’s thumping 600cc ‘Bialbero’ single cylinder motor that offers grunty performance, these are a great bike under all conditions, and with the ability for ‘green laning’ as well

Genuinely unusual to be found, this is a highly individual and (very) capable bike. With capability comes fun, and make no mistake, this is hugely enjoyable bike, properly fit for purpose
