This is an earlier carburettor fed Sportster, and is fitted with a Stage 1 performance upgrade comprising Screamin’ Eagle induction kit and Vance & Hines Fat Staggered’ Pipes. It sounds just brilliant…

It also has a light clutch actuation kit fitted, smoked lenses, Optimate lead and an LED headlamp (original provided)

Being a Custom, the specification includes forward controls, 21″ diameter chromed laced spoked front wheel, 16″ diameter solid slotted disc cast aluminium rear wheel, and is a proper ‘chrome look’ old skool Harley with chrome everywhere including valve covers/air filter housing/cylinder barrels/rear shocks/bars/mirrors/clock bezel.

This bike really is very clean, lovely in all it’s detail, and of course, the low revving motor offers the aural delights associated with, and indeed necessary, for this type of machine, even more so with the Stage 1 induction kit and open ‘pipes

These Kingpins are genuinely rare to be found, and look truly fabulous. Closely related to the Vegas model, they are a more filled out bike with a distinct bias towards comfort and handling

Super comfortable, with a distinctive brand identity, and well regarded for decent handling and a lightish feel given their actual kerbweight. Traditional big capacity air cooled V-Twin ‘Freedom’ motor produces 97 bhp and a very healthy 153 Nm of torque, and provides effortless, under stressed performance as only this kind of motor can, along with a suitable soundtrack

These CCMs are hugely innovative, stylish, fun machines. At their heart is a characterful BMW/Husqvarna 600 single that really sounds the business, and provides the sort of get up and go only a big capacity ‘thumper’ can. It sits in a handbuilt trellis frame constructed from T45 steel which is an absolute work of art in terms of it’s aesthetic design, and finish…

..with machined alloy billet components, top quality suspension and braking components, and many bespoke parts, they are effectively an ‘off the shelf’ custom machine

Other standard specification includes multifunctional integrated LED lighting, LCD integrated instrument cluster and lightweight lithium battery

Add in to the mix their limited production and relative rarity and it is clear that these little bikes truly are very desirable indeed

The Classic Tracker of course differs significantly from other CCMs in the line up. ‘FA’ suffix denotes this as a fully faired ABS version, and as with all GSF/GSX1250s, it is a most usable and versatile machine. 1255cc in-line liquid cooled 4 gives 97bhp and allows for decently quick, unfussed performance, aided by a healthy torque figure of 80lb/ft

Super comfortable riding position, superb ergonomics and user friendly, much accomplished chassis are all watchwords of these fabled bikes, which just get on with the job in hand

Nice extras fitted to this one include a factory fitted centre stand, Garmin Zumo 660LM sat-nav, Scottoiler, luggage rack, sports exhaust with carbon tip, heated grips, carbon fibre rear hugger, Powerbronze tinted screen, R&G radiator guard, carbon style tank pad and paddock stand bobbins

These Spitfires are hugely innovative, stylish, fun machines. At their heart is a characterful BMW/Husqvarna 600 single that really sounds the business, and provides the sort of get up and go only a big capacity ‘thumper’ can. It sits in a handbuilt trellis frame constructed from T45 steel which is an absolute work of art in terms of it’s aesthetic design, and finish…

..with machined alloy billet components, top quality suspension, Brembo braking components, and many bespoke parts, they are effectively an ‘off the shelf’ custom machine

Other standard specification includes ‘Keyless Go’ (with in this case the optional ‘Wristband’) machined aluminium/carbon fibre front/rear huggers, LED lighting, LCD integrated instrument cluster and lightweight lithium battery

Add in to the mix their limited production and numbered series’ and it is clear that these little bikes truly are very desirable indeed

The FT6 Flat Tracker of course differs significantly from other Spitfires in the line up. Evocative of early AMA flat trackers, it has lashings of carbon fibre parts, beautiful bespoke forged CNC machined alloy wheels, a unique twin stacked LED headlight unit with carbon fibre shroud, higher more upright and wider handlebars, uprated fully adjustable Marzochhi and YSS suspension, a solo seat with 2 tone leather cover and shorter tail unit, number boards, and a one of a kind exhaust

This particular example has lots of extras fitted, all CCM parts, which include billet reservoir covers, adjustable levers, LED driving lights, additional engine casing badges, carbon fibre chainguard, billet alloy oil filler cap, anodised alloy valve caps and Optimate flylead (original parts also supplied)

Just 250 were produced, and all were individually numbered. This one is 32/250

These are a truly wonderful machine to ride with handling and agility that belies their size and a powerplant unsurpassed by any other motorcycle, totally untemperamental, with a beautiful ‘woofly’ character and massively powerful. Just an incredible machine

The ZZR 1400 underwent significant upgrades as part of the 2012 model year improvements with a bigger 1441cc capacity motor now rated at 210ps with RAM air, and 119 ft/lb of torque. Quite simply, one of the most incredible road bikes ever produced

This is the Performance Sport which has Titanium Akrapovic exhausts with Carbon Fibre tips and heat shields and an Ohlins TTX rear shock, and additionally revised seat material, a Kawasaki MRA tinted taller touring screen and black rimmed instruments, over and above the ‘standard’ model

This bike benefits further from a Kawasaki centre stand, R&G fork protectors, R&G Aero frame protectors, Full tank protection, Rear hugger, Bar risers and a Meta Alarm. All options were fitted to the bike when brand new, as documented on the original order paperwork at an additional cost of £1300 + VAT

The 2014 model year onwards bikes came with a slipper clutch, a shorter geared 6 speed transmission, Eco riding indicator, a longer and stronger swingarm for the monocoque aluminium frame, standard ABS, 4 piston 4 pad radially mounted front calipers with 310mm diameter discs and fully adjustable 43mm diameter USD forks 

The electronics package includes Switchable power modes, KTRC – Kawasaki Traction Control with 3-way switching, the afforementioned Electronic ABS, LCD instrumentation, Multi-function trip computer and a factory fitted Kawasaki immobiliser system

Hyperbikes such as these with their long wheelbase and big capacity massively torquey motors, just cannot be bought new today as manufacturer’s focus more and more on adventure styled bikes. Suzuki still produce the Hayabusa, but in many ways that is a less versatile touring machine. BMW’s equally fantastic K1300S is long consigned to distant memory when production ceased in 2016

In our view, the ZZR1400 Performance Sport was and will always remain the ultimate of all the hyperbikes. To find one such as this example, in essentially as new condition, with such minimal mileage, is a very rare opportunity indeed for someone

The mechanical specification of these bikes was quite impressive and included the high revving 748cc in line 4 DOHC 16v motor developing 122 bhp and fed by 4 x Keihin CVKD carburettors, fully adjustable 43mm diameter USD forks matched with fully adjustable piggy back reservoir rear shock, twin 320mm diameter front discs with 6 pot Tokico calipers, beautiful clear and concise traditional analogue clocks and strong and light aluminium twin spar frame

It all added up to a machine with a top speed of over 165mph and capable of the standing 1/4 mile in comfortably less than 11s 

This particular bike is highly original and completely standard in every way 

It is in remarkably fine condition, quite lovely and totally fit and healthy. It looks wonderful in one of the less showy of the myriad of colour scheme variants that were offered on these bikes across the P1-P7 models,

The P4 model was the first of the ZX-7Rs to have a painted frame and swingarm and these remain true to original specification

In common with many other carburettor fed ‘old skool’ high revving in line 4 superbikes, it sounds ever so sweet with a distinct induction roar from the airbox and a sublime rasp from the exhaust. It all adds to the sense of occasion of riding and enjoying bikes such as this  

’90s Superbikes now have a distinct following, and are undoubtedly modern classics. The key, of course, is to find examples that have led charmed lives, with low mileage and number of owners, and which remain largely original and untouched from when they were supplied new. That is easier said than done, and in reality excludes probably around 95% of surviving bikes.

Bikes such as this particular example are little gems, and not to be confused with lesser, cheaper specimens. A very useable modern classic, it represents a genuinely rare opportunity, being not easily found, and should prove to be a good investment whilst providing much enjoyment and pride of ownership to it’s keeper
