The E8/E9F (Gen 3) models followed on from the unloved D6/D7F (Gen 2) bikes which were bulky and heavy compared to the original small, lithe, but admittedly unruly 2004 C1/C2H (Gen 1) These E8/E9Fs were a completely new machine in every sense and brought with them a huge advance in technology. The best/most powerful/slickest ZX-10R, and arguably the finest superbike ever, hitherto that point,  taking the attributes of the (compromised) Gen 1 /Gen 2 models, but in a much more rounded, complete package. With pin sharp angular styling, and ferocious performance, they were pretty much the quickest superbikes of the day, and today remain a match for virtually any of the current crop, with a complete lack of temperament…

An utterly fabulous machine, the Panigale 1199 R Gen 2 was launched in 2015, and based upon the 1299 model whilst retaining an ‘R’ spec. motor of 1198cc required for motorsport purposes…

..as such, these 1199 R Gen 2s are the very last of the twin cylinder Ducati Superbikes produced for the sole purpose of motorsport homolgation

The Gen 2 bike whilst producing similar power to the Gen 1 had a much more exotic motor, essentially the same as the Superleggera’s, improved electronics, and manually vs electronic fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, plus many other modifications deemed necessary for the racing bikes….

The earlier Panigale 1199 Gen 1 had been launched in 2013, and was in itself one of the most significant machines in Ducati Superbike history. It shared virtually nothing in common with it’s forebear, the 1198 R. Most importantly, it was frameless, using it’s engine and airbox as it’s chassis where the engine itself acts as a stressed member.

This particular bike is a late registered Gen 2, with a list price when new in 2015 onwards of £28995. In common with all the Ducati R models that preceded it, it was the ultimate expression of Ducati’s engineering prowess. It’s raison d’etre, as already mentioned, solely for the purpose of homologating key parts for racing purposes. It goes without saying that these bikes are rare, exclusive and have a distinct current and future collectability.

The motor itself was heavily modified over the standard ‘SuperQuadro’ unit, and as already mentioned was essentially similar to the Superleggera unit. Briefly it had had titanium valves and connecting rods, a lighter flywheel, DLC anti friction coated rocker arms and revised Mitsubishi fuelling/mapping. This resulted in an internal weight saving of 1.3 kg, lending itself to faster ‘spinning up’ and allowing an increased rev limit of 12000 rpm (+500 rpm over lesser versions) Ducati’s engineers then shortened the bike’s gearing to 15/41, and added a full Akrapovic Titanium exhaust system which grew crankshaft power to 202bhp with 101 lb/ft of torque. And so, the already fearsome ‘big’ Panigale, became even faster, even noiser, even more monstrous, and of course, even more desirable.

The ‘R’ also had a beautifully crafted and finished lightweight aluminium fuel tank, and a 4 way adjustable swingarm pivot. It wore many expensive Ducati Corse Carbon Fibre parts, quite befitting of it’s £28995 price tag. These included a  front hugger, rear hugger, ignition shroud, heel guards, infill panels, clutch cover, rear suspension guard and swingarm protector.

Bristling with high technological electronic and mechanical componentry the rest of the specification included Ohlins NIX30 43mm dia. TiN coated forks with manual compression and rebound adjustment, Ohlins TTX36 monoshock with manual compression and rebound adjustment, and adjustable linkage, Ohlins fully adjustable steering damper, Brembo Monobloc M50 radial calipers, 330mm dia. floating discs and radial master cylinder, Marchesini forged light alloy wheels, DDA – Ducati Data Analyser, ABS – Bosch 3-level Electronic Antilock Braking System, DTC – Ducati Traction Control, EBC – Engine Braking Control, DQS – Ducati Quickshifter, RbW – Ride by Wire throttle control, Switchable engine maps – Rain, Sport, Wet, Taller screen, MOTO GP derived LCD instruments and Ducati engine immobiliser

This particular bike is essentially standard, and as it left the factory, other than for the fitment of an R&G tail tidy, EvoTech Performance (EP) radiator guard and Optimate lead

Wonderful bike. Sounds and looks awesome, with monstrous, mindblowing performance from its 202 bhp / 101 lb ft L-Twin ‘R’ spec. Superquadro motor. With it’s low ownership and mileage provenance, along with it’s beautiful original condition, it must surely become ever more collectable as time goes on

The Evora was a highly significant car for Lotus, launched in 2009 it was the first Lotus since the end of Esprit V8 production in 2003 to feature an engine of more than 4 cylinders. Styled more as a GT car, it offered a level of refinement and interior creature comforts just not seen in other Lotus’s of the time, and as such targeted other rivals….

….with decent luggage space both to the rear compartment and rear seat areas, and with genuine ease of use and overall refinement levels, these Evoras would make a fantastic companion for a long distance road trip, UK, Europe or otherwise. Their breadth of ability is surprisingly rounded for such a ‘junior’ exotic

The motor was Toyota’s 2GR-FE Quad-Cam unit of 3456 cc capacity and tweaked by Lotus to produce 280bhp. A beautifully smooth, revvy and musical engine, it is also majestically unstressed and offers supreme ease of maintenance for a sports car of this nature

With the usual attention that Lotus applies to all it’s cars, the Evora has a lightweight, bonded aluminium tub that offers supreme stiffness, massively powerful brakes, low centre of gravity, excellent weight balance, and delectably feelsome steering and balance. It’s a proper thoro’bred in all respects

This really is an exceptional example, and remains essentially true to it’s original factory specification other than for a later Kenwood infotainment system (replacing the original Alpine unit)

It drives wonderfully, tight with faultless dynamics in terms of it’s suspension, brakes, clutch, gearbox and drivetrain. Sounds fantastic, and goes very well indeed

In our view, whilst there are more powerful, and more expensive Evoras to be had, the 280bhp normally aspirated revvy unit in this car, with it’s manual (optional close ratio gearbox) 18″/19″ wheel combination, lightweight forged wheels and factory sports exhaust, just offers a fabulous balance, and these na Evoras have all the thrill, fun factor and dynamic ability of supercars 2 or 3 times the price

Once part of our own personal bike collection, we sold it in 2021 with 1800 miles. Now returned to us in part exchange

Just 50 of these beautiful machines were produced in 2016 to commemorate John McGuiness’s 2015 Senior TT victory which was not wholly expected, and with him smashing the outright lap record in the process. It was a hugely emotional victory for him

Of the 50 bikes, 7 of them were used during the 2016 TT as the ‘Flying Marshal’ bikes. This bike is one of the other 43

Taking the Fireblade SP as it’s base, the TT Edition added key extras which included an Akrapovic MotoGP titanium exhaust, Gilles VCR adjustable rearsets, Limited edition black Gilles FX Levers with Honda Racing etching, Gilles MotoGP lever guards, Gilles TCA chain adjusters including paddock stand lifters and crash pads, Galfer stainless laser cut wavey discs front and rear, and a Yoshimura tail tidy

This bike also has an HM Quickshifter Plus SS fitted, along with GB Racing engine case protectors, GB Racing paddock stand bobbins, Anodised aluminium brake reservoir cap and HRC carbon style tank pad

The original SP upon which the TT Edition was based had been launched in 2014 and was so much more than a cosmetically enhanced model. The most advanced, lightest, fastest, best handling Fireblade of all time at that point, it significantly had a Factory Blueprinted engine with power output quoted @ 181bhp, HRC revised inlet tract, cylinder head and exhaust system, Fully adjustable 43mm dia. BPF Ohlins forks, Fully adjustable Ohlins rear shock unit, Gold Brembo 4-piston calipers with fully floating 320mm dia. discs, Gold Marchesini lightweight rims, Revised lightweight rear subframe and unique single seat unit, Revised handlebar clip ons and footpeg locations and an Assisted slipper clutch.

In the ‘real world’ a latish Fireblade such as this remains one of the fastest, lithe and agile superbikes that can be bought, with a midrange, flexibility and lack of temperament pretty much unmatched anywhere else. When those virtues are enhanced with a blueprinted motor, Ohlins suspension, reduced weight etc, etc, as with these SP models, you genuinely have what is one of the greatest road going Superbikes ever produced, at any price.

Also worth mentioning that these bikes look utterly fantastic too, with the HRC colours, Gold Brembos and Gold Marchesinis enhancing an already pretty machine no end.

Totally beautiful bike, that needs nothing at all. Produced in very limted numbers and genuinely very rare. Super desirable machine

These Z800s fantastic looking, compact middleweight bike, suited equally to riders moving up the motorcycling ladder, or for more experienced motorcyclists who now just want something small and light, whilst still providing a wholly decent amount of fun

The motor is a 806cc 4-cylinder DOHC unit developing 113bhp, and endowing these bikes with genuinely spritely and spirited performance

The technical specification includes 41mm KYB inverted forks, KYB aluminium bodied rear monoshock with piggyback reservoir, 4 piston calipers with 310mm floating discs, and full digital instrumentation with a triple LCD screen comprising fuel gauge, range indicator, level meter type rev counter and eco riding indicator

These are brilliant bikes that provide an incredible amount of fun. Motive power is by Suzuki’s venerable 398cc DOHC liquid cooled single 4v motor developing 39bhp, dry sumped and mated to a 5 speed ‘box and wet clutch

This one has come to us in part exchange and just had new chain and sprockets.  It has decent matching tyres fitted, and is MOT’d until October 2024

Long travel suspension incorporates fully adjustable 49mm diameter inverted forks at the front, with a fully adjustable monoshock at the rear. In terms of braking, a large single 310mm diameter front disc with 2 piston caliper works alongside a 220mm diameter rear disc, and proves an excellent, most effective combination. The tyres wrap around a 21″ diameter front spoked wheel, and 18″ diameter rear 

Very light, with strong brakes, super agile handling and a ‘thumper’ engine that thrives on being worked, it all adds up to an absolute hoot of a bike, and one of the best things you can have for less than perfect weather conditions, or a bit of green laning on a Sunday morning

The bike clearly shows signs of use during it’s 22 years, but remains very presentable, and is completely fit and healthy. Great fun…

The Ducati 999 followed the much loved 916/996/998 Massimo Tamburini designed series. Penned by Pierre Terblanche, it became one of the most successful race bikes every produced by Ducati Corse, winning 3 out of 5 World Superbike titles between 2003 and 2007. 

It was a huge step forward in many ways, not least being the first motorcycle in the world to utilise CAN bus wiring and electronics, that being in simplistic terms where individual cables and wires serve more than one purpose, or circuit

All 999 variants had the ‘Testastretta’ motor, previously seen in the earlier 996R and 998 models, and literally translated as ‘Narrow Head’ enabling a reduced included angle between the valves, this allowing bigger valves, and necessitating significant re-engineering and re-location of one half of the desmodromic valve gear

The 2005 model year bikes were uprated over earlier versions, and the motor now developed 140 bhp and 80 lb ft. They also displayed some styling and detailing differences, not least being the trademark trellis frame in Red

The mechanical specification was impressive and included 43mm diameter Showa forks, fully adjustable for compression and rebound with TiN anti friction coating, a progressive linkage rear suspension with fully adjustable Showa monoshock, 320mm floating discs with 4 piston calipers, Weber Marelli engine management with 54mm throttle bodies and a very light and stiff box section swingaram

This bike has been much loved, and well cared for by it’s previous owner, and it’s condition completly belies it’s mileage. It is a genuine bike, and is very much entry level money for a big capacity Ducati Superbike. With new belts, oil, plugs and 12 months MOT it will come to it’s new owner fully sorted, needing nothing at all and ready for the season ahead

The V4 Panigale ended the long line of V-Twin Ducati Superbikes, primarily to increase Ducati’s success in racing, which it managed to do very well indeed. The motor was designated Desmosedici Stradale and was a 90 degree V4 1103cc 8v motor developing 214bhp…

…however, in the case of the Speciale power rose to 226bhp due to the fitment of a full Race Titanium Akrapovic exhaust system. An absolute work of art, this exhaust system could be specified on the lesser models, albeit at a heady price of £5000

An utterly fabulous machine, in true collectors’ condition, the Speciale is assured it’s place in Ducati history for being the first and ultimate V4. This one is about as good as it gets, a true automotive jewel…
