The Abarth connection to Yamaha is little known to most, but it centres around Abarth’s parent company Fiat having been key sponsors of the Moto GP team, with Abarth cars being supplied to team members
Just 695 were produced of these very special Cafe Racers, with this one being number 289, identified by a prominent aluminium plaque. Around 100 or so made it to the UK, and so it’s a genuine rarity to be seen. The bikes were all finished in a Unique Grey and Red paint scheme with Abarth Scorpion logos on fuel tank, front mudguard and tail, and were marketed alongside a limited edition Fiat 500 Abarth model, designated ‘695’ so hence the build numbers. The Fiat Abarth 695 was finished in the same unique colour scheme
What was particularly significant was that this was Yamaha’s first factory designed café racer special. The specification included a lightweight carbon fibre front cowl, clip-on style swallow handlebars, carbon fibre seat cowl, carbon fibre front mudguard, LED Sports tail light, sports solo seat with suede cover & red stitching, Akrapovič titanium exhaust with slip-on mufflers, limited edition numbered aluminium plaque, aluminium fuel tank covers, traction control system, Assist and Slipper clutch and an LCD dashboard. A factory fitted engine immobiliser was fitted and all UK bikes were Datatagged
In addition to the standard specification, this particular bike has had the central fuel tank trim and rear hugger professionally carbon dipped to match all the other carbon fibre parts. It finishes the bike off superbly and it is surprising that Yamaha did not do this from the off. EvoTech paddock stand bobbins are also fitted
In pristine, and perfect condition, this is a headturning bike that will provide much fun to it’s new owner. Quite wonderful !
