The RR-W / RR-X 918 was the last of the ‘original’ carb fed ‘Blades, prior to the introduction of the 929 RR-Y. The Fireblade was the most significant bike of it’s time when launched in 1992, and set the tone for all future sports bike development. The key thing was it’s light weight compared to other big sports bikes such as Yamaha’s Thunderace and Kawasaki’s ZX-9R. Between 1992 and 1999, the Fireblade was continually honed and developed, ultimately culminating in this model, the last of the carb fed models, and the last of an era as the later Fi ‘Blades were very different bikes
This is a most honest bike, well maintained by it’s last owner of 4 years and in clean, presentable condition. It has some nice bits fitted, most significantly a Yoshimura Cyclone exhaust and remotely adjustable rear Hagon shock unit. Additionally it has a dark tint double bubble screen, Renthal grips, adjustable levers (with originals provided) aluminium bar ends, carbon style tank pad and a carbon fibre rear hugger and chainguard
The motor is super sweet and mechanically very quiet. It remains as it always was, an involving, fun, fast machine. With good tyres, recent oil change and a long MOT it is good to go, and is a decent Fireblade at this price range level
