MODEL SUMMARY.

Highly original, very clean and totally usable Honda CL72 Scrambler 250 Twin.

These were US market only, being the off road ‘trailie’ version of the more commonplace CB72. One of the last CL72s, built in 1966 as verified by the Honda Owners Club (GB) with a dating certificate present, this bike has been in the UK since 2014, and the last owner whom has traded it in with us has owned it since 2015.

Much money spent, all documented, and most of it carried out by Japanese Classic Bike specialist Norman Kinnish of NMK Classic Motorcycles. Recent work includes cylinder bore hone with new rings, new inlet valves with head decarbonised and lapped in accordingly, modified valve stems, new head/rocker gaskets, valve clearances set, new 1st and 2nd gears and shift fork pins, new clutch and bottom end inspection whilst all apart. Other sundry bills, and the previous conscientious owner has changed the oil every 600 miles without fail, evidenced by dipping the dipstick. As such, the bike starts, runs, sounds and rides quite superbly. We have quite a few spares including cables, carb jets, pillion pegs, rear lamp lens, gaskets, mirrors, air filters etc, etc……and an excellent ‘Clymer’ technical manual.

The CL model, both the ‘72’ 250cc example as here, and later ‘77’ 305cc model were typified by their high level side mounted exhaust system, ‘peanut’ fuel tank, cross braced handlebars, telescopic steering damper and plate (looks like a home made effort) over where the CB models’ starter motor resided (CL kick start only) The CL motors also had more torque orientated cams and a lower compression ratio.

The durability of these bikes was properly tested in 1962 by Honda works rider and desert racer Dave Ekins, and a Honda dealer Bill Roberston Jr, riding a couple of CL72s nigh on 1000 miles along Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, from Tijuana to La Paz. The bikes managed it with aplomb.

This bike is clearly very original, and remains true to it’s original specification in all key detail. Of all the CL72/77 and CB72/77 models, the CL72 is the scarcest of them all. As such this is a very rare little bike indeed, and it will turn heads wherever it goes. Sounds and rides wonderful, and is very clean in all respects. Just lovely

Pristine example of a 2012 12 registered Husqvarna Nuda 900. 2 owners with the last owning it since July 2012, and just 3400 miles with it’s USB data stick, owners manual and sales brochure, VOSA MOT history report and a clear HPI report present. Has some very worthwhile options fitted, namely a carbon fibre tipped Lanfranconi exhaust, 2-tone Black/White gel comfort seat, Tricolore rim decals and an R&G tail tidy which completely transforms the rear end of these bikes. Clearly loved, this bike’s condition speaks for itself and really is quite lovely. Produced during BMW’s ownership of Husqvarna, prior to the sale of the company to KTM, and the first road going Husqvarna since the ’60s, these are an extremely rare machine, combining the virtues of both a supermoto and naked bike. Check all the classifieds, on all the sites, there are very few available for sale. Utilising a heavily modified bigger capacity 898cc parallel twin from the BMW F800, the motor produces a healthy 105bhp and stonking 74 lb/ft torque, and benefits from an offset crank to give an almost ‘thumper’ like single cylinder characteristic engine note, triple layer head gasket and forged rods and pistons. A 2 stage power map, radial Brembo calipers, and high spec. Sachs suspension ensure that this unusual machine is more than a match for it’s more plentiful rivals, such as Aprilia’s Dorsoduro and Ducati’s Hypermotard. An extremely accomplished bike, a rare sight on the roads, and one that will always attract interest from fellow motorcyclists, these short lived, beautifully engineered and very capable Nuda 900s must surely have future collectability, and will appeal to those who appreciate something a little different.

MODEL SUMMARY.

Truly exceptional example of a Suzuki GSXR-1000 K6 in Pearl Deep Blue and Glass White. The K5/K6 considered by many to be the ultimate model due to it’s light weight, and 176bhp motor. Later models became hampered by emissions technology and were heavier, whereas the earlier models were less powerful. This particular bike has covered just 11700 miles and has it‘s original stamped service book, service bills/invoices and old MOTs present. Particularly nice example of a 2004 04 Reg. Aprilia Tuono 1000 Fighter in Silver with Red wheels and Grey decals. 18000 miles with service history, including it’s original stamped service book, service bills/invoices and old MOTs. Just had 15w/50 lube service. Excellent matching Bridgestone BT021s fitted. The Tuono is essentially a naked RSV Mille, and utilises the same 126bhp litre twin developing oodles of torque and mid-range punch. Putting this motor into a lightweight, upright chassis results in an absolute hooligan of a bike in every sense, a bike of much character, and of course offering the kind of soundtrack only big V-Twin bikes such as this can, particularly on the over run. High technical spec. includes Gold Brembo 4 pot calipers with 320mm diameter discs, fully adjustable 43mm dia. USD forks, Sachs Monoshock rear suspension, PPC power assisted clutch, Aluminium alloy swingarm with progressive linkage and APS system, LCD instruments, 51mm diameter throttle bodies with twin plugs per cylinder and fully integrated fuel injection and engine management. This particular bike has a very smart and sweet sounding Beowulf exhaust, adjustable levers, dark tinted screen, crash bungs, adjustable rearsets with carbon fibre heel plates, bar risers with larger diameter gold anodised bars, Aprilia tank pad, Optimate flylead and paddock stand bobbins. Front fender extender, rear hugger and bellypan are also all part of the standard spec. It really is quite exceptionally clean and original. A fantastically fun machine. MOT’d May 2019. MODEL SUMMARY.

Totally superb 2008 08 Reg. Triumph Bonneville Scrambler 900, carburettor fed model, in Metallic Blue, White and Chrome. Just 6400 miles from new with service history including it’s original stamped service book, some service bills/invoices and previous bill of sale. Recently serviced. Excellent matching Metzeler Karoo 3s fitted. Subtly enhanced with key modifications including a full high level Arrow exhaust system and headers, performance free flowing air filter, shortened front fender, rear fender eliminator, custom solo seat, chrome luggage rack, LED tail light, pressed number plate, fly screen, headlight grille, shorty indicators, engine protection bars and an aluminium sump guard. The Scrambler is mechanically similar to the Bonneville and Thruxton models also produced by Triumph, utilising a version of the firm’s 865cc air cooled 8v parallel twin, carburettor fed in this particular case, but very much with off road type styling, knobbly tyres and with it’s key styling cues taken from Triumph’s ’60s TR6C, the bike that was disguised as a WWII BMW R75 and ridden very expertly by Steve McQueen in The Great Escape. Suitably retro, these bikes have period styling and detailing, and the traditional chrome spoked wheels with a 19″ dia. front, chrome handlebars and instrument bezel, silver engine cases and cam covers, black and silver engine barrels, chrome luggage rack and high level twin chrome exhausts with crossover headers (Arrow performance system in this instance), uphold and maintain the classic look of these usable and characterful British bikes. Rubber knee pads and a Triumph Tank pad also fitted. This particular bike is quite wonderful, and in original and immaculate condition. The modifications made to it only serve to enhance and build upon it’s character and desirability. Just lovely, and great fun. A perfect companion for those summer rides.
