Set up on a Dyna Pro dynamometer in April 2019 we have a printout showing 191.2 rwhp and 89.1 rw lb/ft

The raison d’etre for the HP4 was homologation of parts for the World Superbike and Superstock machines, and as such it was so much more than just a breathed upon S1000RR. It had 9kg less weight, more power across the rev range, and super trick components and electronics, most notably it’s DDC Semi-Active suspension, 15 way adjustable DTC Dynamic Traction Control, and settings on the Race ABS system previously seen only on bikes from the German Superbike series. So although the S1000RR when launched in 2010 was genuinely a gamechanging motorcycle, the introduction of the limited production HP4 from BMW Motorrad’s High Performance (HP) department took things to a hitherto unseen level for a road going machine, even more so when fitted with the Competition Pack, as here, to result in the HP4 Carbon

All HP4s were numbered on the top yoke to assure exclusivity, this one being no. 5378, and the specification included a modified motor with stronger mid-range performance between 6000-9750 rpm, bespoke HP4 colour scheme of Light White, Racing Blue Metallic and Sapphire Black Metallic,  Full HP4 Akrapovic Titanium Carbon Sports Exhaust System, DDC (Dynamic Damping Control) Semi-Active Suspension, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) 15 way adjustable, 4-Way Performance Mode Selection – Rain/Sport/Race and Slick (Slick key provided) Anti-Wheelie, Launch Control, Datalogger, Race ABS (Disengageable) Factory Gearshift assist Quickshifter, Anti hopping slipper clutch, Electronic fuel injection/Digital engine management and control with Knock sensor (BMS-K-P) and Brembo Radial Monobloc Brake Calipers with twin floating 320mm diameter 5mm thick front discs

The Competition Pack added £2650 to the price of the bike when new, and comprised an HP long, closed engine spoiler in Carbon Fibre, HP fuel tank protector in Carbon Fibre, HP Carbon Fibre wind deflectors, HP adjustable folding lever system, HP adjustable rider footrest system, HP forged aluminium wheels in Racing Blue, HP carbon fibre exhaust hanger,Factory fitted tinted MRA screen and HP fairing decal kit. This bike is also provided with the rarely specified factory supplied pillion equipment with seat, pegs and exhaust hanger. Other extras fitted to this particular bike are an R&G Carbon Fibre rear hugger and chainguard, GB Racing engine covers, Pro-Bolt titanium rotor bolts (originals provided) LED bulbs (originals provided) BMW HP Gilles paddock stand bobbins, Carbotech fuel filler cover, R&G tail tidy, R&G foot hanger blanking plate and ever useful Optimate flylead

Quite simply, one of the fastest. most accomplished production road 1000cc Superbikes ever produced, with an incredibly docile and untemperamental nature. Truly an epic motorcycle

This particular bike is as good as it gets for one of these. Genuinely of collector quality, it is remarkably nice and totally belies it’s 16000 miles. A credit to it’s owners, it is original and immaculate and has clearly led a charmed life, with road use only. Beautiful in every way, a truly wondrous motorcycle, with a distinct future collectability
