Previously sold by us. We originally purchased this bike in July 2020 from it’s 3rd owner whom had owned it since 2011. The mileage at that time was 12300 miles and as part of our sales preparation we fitted new timing belts, spark plugs and gave it a Shell Advance Ultra 10w/40 fully synthetic lube service
We then sold it to it’s 4th owner (in July 2020) whom has enjoyed the bike for the last 2 years and taken the mileage to 21000. He has cared for it very well and it remains, as it always was, an exceptionally clean, original and essentially standard example
We have now duplicated our sales preparation regime, and so it has just had, again, new timing belts (this time with with new tensioners, rollers and nuts) NGK RA59-GC spark plugs and a Shell Advance Ultra 10w/40 fully synthetic lube service
It also has as new matching Michelin Pilot 4 Road tyres fitted, has had recent new Brembo brake pads, and uprated starter motor leads which are a very worthwhile upgrade on these bikes
The ST4 was Ducati’s then take on the sports touring market, but with a distinct nod towards the sporting element. Aimed at rivals such as Honda’s VFR800 and Triumph’s Sprint ST, it utilised the 4v liquid cooled Desmoquattro from the 916 Superbike, tweaked with a slightly heavier crank to offer a little more smoothness and low down torque. Power was quoted at 105bhp and 69 lb/ft, good figures, and these bikes offer properly decent performance with a top speed of 155mph and a standing quarter in the 11s bracket
Along with the charismatic big 90 degree V-Twin, the mechanical specification includes ‘Gold’ Brembo calipers with 320mm diameter discs, USD 43mm fully adjustable Showa forks, Showa GD082 adjustable monoshock rear suspension and Marelli engine management. It all makes for a machine where fast progress can be made in an enjoyable fashion. An ever useful centre stand is fitted along with an Optimate battery charger lead
This particular bike is exceptionally clean and original, we would say unequivocably one of the very best that will be found. Totally standard other than for the fitment of an Oberon clutch slave cylinder, and modified baffles to enhance the noise of the big V-Twin.
With known ownership, just 21000 miles, and with a quite amazingly detailed history, it is far from easy to find examples such as this nowadays. With timing belts just completed, along with spark plugs and high quality synthetic oil it needs nothing at all. A quite superb bike and a true credit to it’s keepers
