These early carb fed R1s were truly a game changing motorcycle, taking superbike performance to another level back in the late ‘90s, and paved the way for future superbike development. The 5JJ model as here, was the 2nd generation launched in 2000, and much improved over the original 4XV model
This bike has been much loved by it’s last owner, and as can clearly be seen has been personalised to his taste. The main theme is reflective of the Virgin Yamaha Race Team bikes, with varied Virgin Media and Virgin Mobile decals in evidence
It also has quite a lot of polished items fitted, and gold components, some anodised, some painted. The photographs clearly show this…

The bike is highly individual, and very much a head turner. It’s low ownership and low mileage provenance is not to be taken for granted. It is perfect for someone whom wants a ’90s/noughties Japanese superbike of distinct character, and one that will still deliver so much in terms of it’s performance and overall capabilities
