MODEL SUMMARY.

A little piece of  Italian exotica. Laverda Sport 650 Kevlar Serie in Red. This is a numbered bike, with appropriate ‘Kevlar Serie’ build plaque depicting no. 187, and with Kevlar body panels. Originally a Dutch bike, registered in the UK 2018 on an appropriate 1995 M prefix number

Low mileage of 13000 miles (21000 km) with original owners’ manual (in English) 2 keys and some service history/bills/documents present

In very clean condition, this is a 650 Sport that remains completely true to it’s original specification. Clearly much loved by it’s then Dutch owner, in 2017 it was sent to Van Dijk Motoren, one of the leading Laverda specialists worldwide, and lightly restored at a significant cost of 4900 euros, all documented, and the work included top/bottom engine overhaul, new clutch, new brake discs/pads, all fluids/filters, new exhausts, new tyres, chain/sprockets, decals + lots more

Therefore, this bike has had a great deal of work carried out on it, with no expense spared, by a well renowned Laverda specialist. This is very important, after all they are both very special, and specialised machines. We have also just completed a high quality Motul 7100 fully synthetic 15w/50 oil service with Champion filter, with a new Champion air filter and new NGK plugs for good measure

The 650 Sport with Weber Marelli fuel injection, was available from mid 1994. It utilises Laverda’s air cooled 668cc 4v per cylinder parallel twin motor, developing 70 bhp and 60 Nm, which had been seen in smaller capacity guise in models such as the 500, Montjuic and Atlas off road bikes

As is often the case with low volume Italian sportsbikes, the mechanical specification made use of top notch high quality componentry from all the best names, including fully adjustable 40mm WP front forks, fully adjustable rising rate WP rear shock unit, Brembo 4 pot brake calipers with 320mm discs and Marchesini rims

Aimed squarely at Ducati’s air cooled 750 Supersport, it offered a more revvy nature but similar overall performance, and was always a much rarer sight on the roads

This bike really is quite lovely. It sports BOS open ‘pipes (with baffles if required) which sound fabulous and mirror the original design, and a white front number board, but other than that is essentially exactly how it would have left the Laverda Zane factory in 1995. All original features, from it’s decals, to mirrors, to lights and indicators remain true to original specification. As such it is a fantastic period bike and given the significant work carried out to it is one that should give reliable, dependable service

All in all this is an excellent example of a most characterful and genuinely rare motorcycle, all the more special for it’s numbered Kevlar Serie status. In fit and healthy condition, ready to be used and enjoyed this coming summer with no work, other than the usual mechanically sympathetic ongoing maintenance any such vehicle demands. Great little Italian classic
