MODEL SUMMARY.
WOW ! Highly original, standard specification Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1000 Mk4 in Red. UK supplied new in August 1986 on a ‘D’ prefix. 6 owners in the last 32 years, and 37000 miles with lots of paperwork including the original service book, owners handbook, technical manual, numerous service bills/invoices and MOTs, old log books etc, etc… Just had fresh Silkolene engine oil and filter, sump removed and gauze filter removed/cleaned, NGK plugs, 80w 90 GL-5 mineral gearbox and final drive oils, and carburettors tweaked/balanced for smooth running. Starts on the button, ticks overs beautifully, and pulls cleanly throughout the rev range. As new Avon RoadRiders fitted. As with all Guzzis, it‘s a bike of individuality, character, rarity and desirability. It typically utilises a 90 degree air cooled V-Twin, transverse mounted, and in this case of 948cc capacity, with 2v heads and fuelled by two 40mm Dell‘Ortos. Power output is 81bhp and 57 lb ft torque, but that only tells half the story. The torque curve is flat, enabling good pulling power all the way from tickover to the top of it’s rev range. Not many of these to be found, even less so with such originality, and low mileage and ownership provenance. A wonderful classic Italian bike that can be enjoyed.
