MODEL SUMMARY.
Not many around like this one. Totally and utterly superb 1999 T Registered Suzuki GSX1300R X Hayabusa in Candy Antares Red / Saturn Black (code M9U)
UK supplied by M&P in Northampton, this is the first of the Hayabusas, an unrestricted model with 175bhp / 102 lb ft and capable of 190mph.
Upon their launch nothing could get close to these bikes, and their top speed smashed any previous figures laid down by the key rivals of the day. Amusingly named Hayabusa by Suzuki, the word represents Japanese for a Peregrine Falcon, a bird of prey that likes to eat Blackbirds, amongst others. Honda’s hyperbike of the day was the Super Blackbird, hitherto the point of the Hayabusa’s launch the world’s fastest bike, and so the meaning of the name is clear. The Hayabusa was actually 20mph faster ultimately. To use an all too often used phrase nowadays, this is a legendary motorcycle, but in this case the phrase fits and the bike is fully worthy of the accolade
Just 11000 miles from new, and direct to us from it’s 2nd owner of 18 years since May 2002. An avid bike and car enthusiast the bike has been part of his extensive collection, and stored alongside some fairly exotic machinery with only minimal use in recent years. As such, it has recently been subject to an extensive mechanical re-commissioning. Too much to list, but it’s all documented, and suffice to say everything required has been completed, fluids changed, and the fuel system comprehensively overhauled as part of that. New Pirelli Angel GT tyres fitted
This bike is in genuinely highly original and beautiful condition, quite lovely in every way, and must not be compared with or confused with typical much lesser examples that have not led the charmed life that it has
The ‘Busa is what it is, seriously quick, very comfortable, and with styling all of it’s own. This bike is essentially stock and standard other than for gorgeous sounding, and looking ART Pro-Series exhausts, Goodridge braided lines, Oxford heated grips, a polished chainguard and a carbon fibre rear hugger. Some of the standard parts have also been polished to a very high standard including the rearsets and rear pegs. A period Datatool immobiliser device is also fitted
It needs to be realised what a rarity this bike is. Of course Hayabusas are plentiful, but not the first of them such as this, and even less so with just 11000 miles and 2 owner provenance from new. This particular bike is an absolute prime example of a genuinely gamechanging motorcycle that has it’s place in history assured, and presents a not easily found opportunity for the right buyer
If you are looking for an early Hayabusa, one to cherish and keep, and hopefully see appreciate as time goes on, then it’s hard to imagine a better one that this
