MODEL SUMMARY.
Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition in the bespoke FE Tricolore colour scheme of Red/White/Green with Red wheels
Supplied new by franchised dealers Ducati Croydon to it’s sole owner from new, the bike has now come directly to us from him. Registered in June 2021 on a ’21’ prefix the original bill of sale is present, as is the original service book stamped to show the 1st service completed by W.M.Snell Ducati in Alton, Hampshire, a clear HPI report and all books/documents/keys
Importantly, a Certificate of Authenticity was issued by the Borgo Panigale factory for each of these bikes, showing the production number, and engine and chassis numbers. This was accompanied by a letter addressed to the original owner, and both these are present, this bike being numbered as 892
12 months MOT provided at point of sale
These bikes were provided with billet mirror blank off plates, a racing screen and Ducati Data Analyser module. These are all present, untouched, as one would both expect and wish
These are the very last of the big twin Ducati Superbikes, a rather illustrious line. Based on the later 1299 model with essentially the best of everything, including, significantly, the 1285cc SuperQuadro motor which is essentially the same as that used in the very exotic Superleggera model, developing 209bhp and 104 lb/ft. This one is a late registered example, a proper ‘end of an era’ machine, and quite unequivocably a thing of immense beauty
It goes without saying that these bikes are rare, exclusive and have a distinct current and future collectability.
As afforementioned, the motor itself was heavily modified over the standard ‘SuperQuadro’ unit, and in effect the highly exotic Superleggera motor that had launched in 2014 on the lightweight (1199) model that bore it’s name. It significantly had titanium rods, a lighter flywheel, DLC anti friction coated rocker arms and revised Mitsubishi fuelling/mapping. This resulted in an internal weight saving of 1.3 kg, lending itself to faster ‘spinning up’ and allowing an increased rev limit
In the case of the Final Edition model, it breathed through a truly beautiful bespoke full titanium Akrapovic exhaust system with twin high level silencers, styled as per the WSBK and BSB race bikes. With these changes crankshaft power grew to 209bhp, with 104 lb/ft of torque. And so, the already exquisite ‘big’ Panigale, became even more desirable.
It wore many expensive Ducati Corse Carbon Fibre parts, quite befitting of it’s £34995 price tag. These included a front hugger, rear hugger, cockpit panels, ignition shroud, heel guards, infill panels, clutch cover, rear suspension guard and swingarm protector
Bristling with high technological electronic and mechanical componentry the rest of the specification included Ohlins NIX30 43mm dia. TiN coated forks with manual compression and rebound adjustment, Ohlins TTX36 monoshock with manual compression and rebound adjustment, and adjustable linkage, Ohlins fully adjustable steering damper, Brembo Monobloc M50 radial calipers, 330mm dia. floating discs and radial master cylinder, Marchesini 3 spoke W shaped forged light alloy wheels finished in Red, IMU – Internal Measurement Unit in conjunction with Bosch Inertial Platform, DWC Evo – Ducati Wheelie Control Evo, DDA – Ducati Data Analyser, ABS – Bosch 3-level Electronic Antilock Braking System, DTC – Ducati Traction Control, EBC – Engine Braking Control, DQS – Ducati Quickshifter Up/Down with AutoBlipper, RbW – Ride by Wire throttle control, Switchable engine maps – Rain, Sport, Wet, MOTO GP derived LCD instruments, Ducati engine immobiliser and a Lithium battery
An ever useful Optimate flylead is fitted to this bike enabling ease of battery charging
A magnificent bike, in exceptional, original, essentially as new condition. A truly stunning motorcycle, with great historical significance within the Ducati Superbike lineage, that looks awesome, with monstrous, mindblowing performance from its 209 bhp / 104 lb ft L-Twin ‘R’ spec. Superquadro motor
With just 1 owner and 700 miles from new, it is without any doubt today a highy prized collectors’ machine, and one which must surely become ever more desirable as time goes on.
