These later naked Z1000s are so much harder to find than their more plentiful, and less sharp, faired cousins, with strong performance from their willing 138bhp motor, and excellent, nimble handling, combined with supreme comfort. Standard equipment includes fully adjustable suspension, radial brakes, petal discs, LCD/Analogue instruments and a factory fitted Kawasaki immobiliser.

Ridden and used in recent times, with not so much emphasis on love and cleaning, it nevertheless remains tidy and presentable other than a little crack damage to the RHS upper fairing. Mechanically is excellent and rides quite superbly, without fault. Fast, smooth, excellent brakes, sweet fuelling, nice clutch and gearbox, genuinely really nice.

Options fitted include a tinted double bubble touring screen, carbon fibre rear hugger, front fender extender, HRC carbon effect tank pad, HRC carbon effect fuel filler surround and dual USB sockets.

The Super Blackbird remains one of the fastest and most comfortable of super tourers, immensely powerful and capable of huge mileages in a totally fuss free manner. It’s spec. includes Digital Ignition Mapping, Ram Air Induction System. Combined Braking System with Linked Brakes (CBS) 3 Piston Brake Calipers, Honda Multi Action Suspension (HMAS) and a 24 litre fuel tank.

Factory fitted Suzuki SAIS immobiliser. The engine was all new for the model, and a shorter stroke, higher revving unit than it’s K7/K8 predecessor.

  1098s are notorious for ‘slow cranking’ as they get older, often resulting in difficult starting characteristics, and accordingly this bike has just had a full overhaul of it’s starting system including Exact Fit UK copper lead upgrade kit fitted, along with a new starter motor, sprag clutch, solenoid and battery. 

  The 1098 launched in 2007 and took it’s styling cues from the earlier 916/996/998 range, reverting back to a single sided swingarm, as opposed to the previous 749/999 range which had moved to a double sided variant.  The mechanical and electronic specification was extremely high, and included a Trellis frame in Red constructed from ALS450 alloy, Black lightweight ‘Y’ section Marchesini wheels, Fully adjustable 43mm dia. Showa forks, Fully adjustable Showa rear shock, Adjustable steering damper, Brembo Monobloc calipers with 330mm diameter front discs, Single sided swingarm finished in natural aluminium, Moto GP derived LCD instruments, Stopwatch and lap timer, Brembo adjustable levers with remote span adjustment and Brembo radial master cylinders and remote reservoirs.

  This bike also has a Race cowl, Carbon Fibre front hugger, Carbon Fibre rear hugger, Carbon Fibre heel plates, Ducati Corse carbon effect tank pad and Front/Rear white numberboards’

  The motor produces 160bhp / 90 lb/ft, designated ‘Testastretta Evoluzione’ which, as it’s name would suggest, was an evolution of the ‘Narrow Head’ Testastretta motor seen in earlier 998 and 999 variants (and 996R) Aurally, and in terms of it’s power and performance, this is an epic engine.

  These are a truly beautiful, and wondrous machine. This one stands out as having excellent, low ownership, a very proper service history, and being very clean and original. Needs nothing, ready for the season ahead. MOTd April 2020. All owner’s manuals/handbooks present.

A huge amount of under seat storage, lots of ‘cubby holes’ and high levels of ’ride all day’ comfort are further key attributes.
