MODEL SUMMARY.
Very clean and original 1998 Porsche 911 (996) 3.4 Carrera 2 Manual in Arctic Silver. Owned by myself personally for the last 14 years
UK Registered from new in August 1998, and so originally on an ‘S’ prefix, but now on a cherished plate which stays with it
67000 miles with service history, including it’s original stamped service book, numerous service bills/invoices and numerous old MOTs. 4 x new Bridgestone Potenzas fitted. MOTd July 2025. HPI clear
An early UK C16 specification with cable operated throttle, Aerokit Cup Bodykit with additional (optional) front lower splitter, BBS 18″ Sport Classic split rim alloys, Soft ‘ruffled’ leather trim, Small aluminium interior trim pack comprising instruments, centre console and gearknob, Electric tilt/slide sunroof and Fabspeed Supercup exhaust system with dual tips
Remains essentially true to it’s original factory specification other than for later clear lamp lenses, and aforementioned Fabspeed exhausts
It drives wonderfully, tight with faultless dynamics in terms of it’s suspension, brakes, clutch, gearbox and drivetrain. Sounds fantastic, and goes as well as it ever would have, with the motor remaining smooth, powerful, willing and musical..
However, I don’t believe that with this particular car the motor has ever had any significant work, and there are some issues, as with many 996/997 motors. Mainly, the right hand cylinder bank exhaust pipe is sooty, and it will often (but not always) smoke on start up. For the main part, in normal use, it is not smoky, but it is consuming oil quite heavily…
..there could be a number of reasons for this, none of which will be a cheap and easy fix, and which may/may not result in an engine rebuild, and so the car is sold strictly without warranty. It must be said though that the car is wholly reliable, and completely usable as is. For a high days and holidays car, it fits the bill in it’s current state
If 911 (996) Porsches ever do appreciate significantly, then this car has everything going for it in terms of what it is, that being a UK narrow bodied C2 Manual, with Aerokit, BBS Split Rims, a genuine 67000 miles, and is a completely straight, proper car in every sense. It may one day become very sought after
The choice would be the buyer’s as to whether to use and enjoy as is, or investigate the oil consumption and invest in it accordingly
