These Interceptor 650s were a huge step for Royal Enfield in that they moved away from a single cylinder motor to a bigger capacity parallel twin. The motor offers Bosch Electronic Fuel Injection (EFi) with a single piece forged crankshaft and 270 degree firing order. The resultant 47 bhp ensures ample performance with a top speed of around 100 mph, whilst always emitting a suitably traditional exhaust rasp

The styling is right out of the ’60s, very retro and utterly convincing with a teardrop style fuel tank, steel tube double cradle frame designed by Harris, laced wire spoked rims and twin rear coilover shocks. It all looks superb

Modern concessions are ABS braking, digital engine electronics and a 6 speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch

This particular bike has had the fender extenders removed for a ‘cooler’ look, and has fabulous Scorpion Red Power exhausts fitted at a significant cost of around £525, and which both look and sound superb, and additionally a DNA Performance air filter, Royal Enfield flyscreen, aluminium sump protector, comfort seat, twin USB ports and ever useful Optimate flylead. These Gen 2 Z650s  are a fantastic looking, compact middleweight bike, suited equally to riders moving up the motorcycling ladder, perhaps as their first ‘big’ bike, or for more experienced motorcyclists who now just want something small and light, whilst still providing a wholly decent amount of fun

The motor is a 649cc parallel twin, well known to Kawasaki officionados, which in it’s latest ‘very clean’ guise is quoted as developing 68ps. In a bike of this size and weight, that is ample to provide the bike with genuinely spirited performance.

The latest in a long line of Honda’s SH range of scooters, the 350i has the advanced spec ‘Smart Power ‘ Euro 5 motor which offers an enormous amount of engineering improvements over the previous unit fitted in the SH300i, and is a 330cc SOHC 4 stroke single developing 29bhp

Lots of high tech employed on these super stylish Scooters including Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) which monitors front and rear wheel speed differences, and adjusts throttle accordingly, Two channel ABS brakes, Smart Key operation, LCD instrumentation, an USB Type C socket under the seat, all round LED lighting and Emergency Stop Signal feature

These Iron models have minimal chrome and old skool retro styling, along with black powder coated engine parts, and look, and sound, absolutely fabulous. A truly wonderful individual machine for the money. Low seat and torquey, untemperamental, V-Twin make them very user friendly and eminently usable
