Set up on a Dyna Pro dynamometer in April 2019 we have a printout showing 191.2 rwhp and 89.1 rw lb/ft

The raison d’etre for the HP4 was homologation of parts for the World Superbike and Superstock machines, and as such it was so much more than just a breathed upon S1000RR. It had 9kg less weight, more power across the rev range, and super trick components and electronics, most notably it’s DDC Semi-Active suspension, 15 way adjustable DTC Dynamic Traction Control, and settings on the Race ABS system previously seen only on bikes from the German Superbike series. So although the S1000RR when launched in 2010 was genuinely a gamechanging motorcycle, the introduction of the limited production HP4 from BMW Motorrad’s High Performance (HP) department took things to a hitherto unseen level for a road going machine, even more so when fitted with the Competition Pack, as here, to result in the HP4 Carbon

All HP4s were numbered on the top yoke to assure exclusivity, this one being no. 5378, and the specification included a modified motor with stronger mid-range performance between 6000-9750 rpm, bespoke HP4 colour scheme of Light White, Racing Blue Metallic and Sapphire Black Metallic,  Full HP4 Akrapovic Titanium Carbon Sports Exhaust System, DDC (Dynamic Damping Control) Semi-Active Suspension, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) 15 way adjustable, 4-Way Performance Mode Selection – Rain/Sport/Race and Slick (Slick key provided) Anti-Wheelie, Launch Control, Datalogger, Race ABS (Disengageable) Factory Gearshift assist Quickshifter, Anti hopping slipper clutch, Electronic fuel injection/Digital engine management and control with Knock sensor (BMS-K-P) and Brembo Radial Monobloc Brake Calipers with twin floating 320mm diameter 5mm thick front discs

The Competition Pack added £2650 to the price of the bike when new, and comprised an HP long, closed engine spoiler in Carbon Fibre, HP fuel tank protector in Carbon Fibre, HP Carbon Fibre wind deflectors, HP adjustable folding lever system, HP adjustable rider footrest system, HP forged aluminium wheels in Racing Blue, HP carbon fibre exhaust hanger,Factory fitted tinted MRA screen and HP fairing decal kit. This bike is also provided with the rarely specified factory supplied pillion equipment with seat, pegs and exhaust hanger. A credit to it’s owners, it is original and immaculate and has clearly led a charmed life, with road use only. The gearbox had unique Alpina software and mapping to give a much quicker, sportier change, and performance was claimed at a top speed of 171 mph, with 0-60 mph in 5.7 s and 0-100 mph in 12.5 s. The claims were actually quite conservative and many contemporary road tests produced better figures. Along with the 5.0 V8 M5, the B10 V8 shared the laurels of being the ultimate E39 5 series, arguably the finest car of it’s day. The Alpina took a very different approach to the M5, being more of a super fast luxury express with a distinct pointer to sportiness, whereas the manual M5 was a more hardcore sports car, much less refined, and decidedly less relaxing to drive. In real world performance, there is little between the two, the M5 having the edge overall, but the Alpina’s ultimate performance so much more easy to access, just plant your right foot and it’s there, with the M5 likely to be scrabbling to put it down

In today’s terms what you have with this B10 is an immensely smart car of much character. Still very quick by the standards of today, there is no getting away from what a normally aspirated 4.6 litre V8 motor with 347 bhp and 480 Nm will bring. A true all rounder, this car will double as a quite beautifully refined fully specc’d luxury car, or as a snarling wheel spinning beast, transitioned from one to the other simply by judicious use of the right foot

All B10 V8 models are becoming ever rarer, and more sought after. This particular car has excellent provenance and history, and is in truly lovely condition, with all the right money spent to keep it in fine fettle. An eminently usable modern classic, that will provide smiles a plenty and sincere pride of ownership, whilst surely proving to be a good future investment

The VFR800 of all denominations is widely regarded as being one of the finest motorcycles of all time, a bike of total completeness, being fast, comfortable, a competent sports bike or tourer, with an engine of immense usability and character, and Honda’s build quality at it’s finest

This particular bike is an A-3 variant, so a 2003 model year with much valued ABS braking. Nice options fitted to it include the aforementioned colour coded Honda seat cowl, Scottoiler, Powerbronze tinted screen, adjustable levers, carbon tank pad, Acumen gear indicator, R&G bar ends and stainless Scorpion exhausts which sound quite superb, adding to the off beat burble of the characterful V4 motor

In very clean and original condition, it is notable for it’s low mileage of just 13000 miles. Most VFRs were bought to be used,  and it is unusual to find one such as this with such relatively little use. As such, it sets itself apart from the greater majority of similarly aged examples and presents a not so easily found opportunity. A great example of a truly great bike

Beautiful little Honda CBR400RR-N NC29 Gullarm. Originally registered in 1994, it is of 1993 build vintage with an NC29105xxx chassis number. None of these 400 Supersports were officially brought into the UK by the manufacturers. Ultimately this one arrived  in 1999, and is registered on an ‘M’ prefix

Totally fit and healthy, this bike both looks and runs quite superbly. A (not so) small fortune has been spent on it including recent replacement brake calipers, discs, HEL braided lines and brake fluid, recent DID Pro Gold chain/sprockets and air filter, and recent replacement stainless exhaust headers and brand new Scorpion end can (original supplied) Has just had a Motul 5100 10w/40 lube service with new NGK CR8EHiX-9 Iridum plugs, fuel system clean/flush and new fuel filter, and the carbs have been fully stripped and ultrasonically cleaned. The net result of all of the above is that it is totally ‘on the button’ and needs nothing at all. Essentially the bike one may end up with after buying one as a ‘project’ and investing much time and money into, ultimately to arrive at where this bike is now

The NC29 Gullarm followed the earlier NC23 TRi-Arm model, the swingarm being the most significant of a multitude of differences between the two. Often referred to as the ‘Baby Blade’ by some, that particular designation, strictly to the letter, only applies to the 1994 RR-R model year bikes which displayed ‘Fireblade’ on their fairings. However, there is a degree of licence with these things, and most NC29s are indeed, and not unreasonably so, considered a Baby Blade

This example is truly very clean, and is in the quite unusual colour scheme of Granite Blue / Light Silver (code PB184E) As is often the case, the fairings are high quality replica items, but only serve to enhance the smartness and overall appearance of the bike. Items such as the wheels, fork stanchions, fork pistons, yokes, instruments etc, all very good. It looks fantastic

As with other 400s of around this vintage, and Hondas in particular (NC23, NC30, NC35), light weight, scintillating handling and a willing motor are the watchwords. The CBR400RR utilised an in-line 4 of 399cc capacity, and the engine was beautifully engineered. Gear driven camshafts featured, and the little motor was happy to rev to in excess of 14000rpm, with most of it’s usable power at upwards of 10000rpm. In short, a proper screamer, and considerably revvier than many 2 strokes. Sounds amazing, and with it’s obvious chassis, handling and braking attributes, it all adds up to a great deal of fun

All in all one of the nicer 400s of any denomination that will be found. Looks, sounds, goes and handles exactly as intended, so very well indeed

This is the 765 S, and whilst the entry level model, it’s arguably the best of all the 765s as a road bike, closest to it’s ultimate raison d’etre, that being a light, nimble and quick motorcycle, with astonishing overall dynamics greater than the sum of it’s parts. It gives very little away, if any as a road machine, to the R and RS models

Replacing the earlier 675 model in 2017, the 765 S specification includes Showa 41mm separate function (SFF) USD forks, Showa piggyback reservoir rear mono shock with stepped preload adjuster, 310mm floating front discs with Nissin calipers, 220mm rear disc with Brembo caliper, Black powdercoated mainframe, subframe and ‘Gullwing’ swingarm, Ride-By-Wire (RBW) throttle, Selectable rider modes – Road and Rain, Switchable Traction Control, Electronic ABS, LED position light bulb headlamps and Cast aluminium wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres

Both in terms of performance and handling these are an incredible little bike, properly quick and with agility up there with the very best. There really isn’t much that will go through set of twisty bends quicker, and the 765 Triple is a motor of immense character, all the time emitting it’s characteristic wail
