These 2014 F-E onwards variants, are also referred to as an RC79 or a Gen 8.  Their styling closely follows that of the original 1997 VFR800 RC46 Gen 5 (previous generations were 750s) which was pronounced as the best motorcycle in the world upon it’s launch. As with all VFRs, they are a bike of supremely rounded abilities, a bike of total completeness, being fast, comfortable, a competent sports bike or tourer, with an engine of immense usability and character, and Honda’s build quality at it’s finest

The specification was greatly enhanced over earlier models, and included an LED headlamp, Traction-Control, 4 piston radial calipers, new lighter 10 spoke wheels, new forks and Pro-Arm swingarm, adjustable seat height and self cancelling indicators. Overall weight was down 10kg and the motor was revised to produce more usable low to mid range torque with a smoother VTEC transition. The wonderful, and characteristic engine note of the V4 remained, an absolute jewel of a motor with a completely unburstable feel

With a steel frame designed by Harris Performance, twin coil over shocks, kick start (with electric combo) laced wire spoked rims and proper handlebar ‘clip ons’ these Continental GT 535s are about as retro as things get. They look truly superb, and obviously sound wonderful with the distinctive ‘thump’ that a bigger capacity 4 stroke single produces

Completely standard and as it left the Royal Enfield showroom other than for a shorter, fruitier ‘megaphone’ exhaust that only serves to enhance the ‘thumperish’ nature of this bike and just sounds fantastic, and a period style chrome headlamp cowl

Quick enough, with a top speed of around 80 mph, and the exhaust always emitting it’s characteristic throb, these bikes offer an extremely fine way to cruise about on a lovely summers day. A fabulous old skool retro Cafe Racer, reminiscent of a previous age. Very stylish, and will always raise smiles from onlookers thanks to it’s period look and character

In original, untouched, and immaculate condition, so if you are looking for one of these, to perhaps relive your youth, or just to enjoy, then this bike is about as good as it gets

These Bullet 500 EFi models look just fantastic, and appear to have come from a different age and time, which of course is their raison d’etre. With combination kick and electric start, and fuss free modern fuel injection, it’s very much a case of being able to enjoy all the attributes of a true classic machine but with peerless reliability

The 499cc air cooled OHV single cylinder motor offers ample performance for what this bike needs to offer, and has the distinctive ‘thump’ that only a big single delivers. The gearbox is a 5 speed manual with left foot gearchange, accompanied by a 7-plate wet clutch. Telescopic front forks and gas filled rear shocks mated with a 280mm dia. disc front brake and 152mm dia. rear drum brake ensure these little bikes handle and stop more than adequately, and 18″ diameter spoked chrome rims look nothing less than ace. Combined with a traditional speedometer, sprung saddle, chrome headlamp cowl, rectangular tool boxes and full length mudguards, amongst many other styling detail touches, it all adds up to an incredibly pretty and charismatic machine, which achieves in every way exactly what it sets out to do

This bike benefits from having a full Motad sports exhaust including downpipe (original parts supplied) and Power Commander V fitted. It also has an engine protection bar and a most useful decent sized pannier / luggage rack, easily removed if required

A bike of much character, that will of course appeal to a certain type of motorcyclist and their needs. One thing is for sure, it will always turn heads, and smiles and waves are assured from onlookers. Great fun

These are an utterly glorious machine, a modern generation Ducati using their recent approach to aluminium monococque chassis design where the engine itself acts as a stressed member. Bristling with high technological electronic and mechanical componentry the specification includes ABS – Bosch 3-level Electronic Antilock Braking System, DTC – Ducati Traction Control, EBC – Engine Braking Control, DQS – Ducati Quickshifter, RbW – Ride by Wire throttle control, Switchable engine maps – Rain, Sport, Wet, Brembo Monobloc M50 radial calipers, 330mm dia. floating discs and radial master cylinder, MOTO GP derived LCD instruments and Ducati engine immobiliser

The ‘S’ model was appreciably more expensive than the base model, and in addition to the above specification offered a much more sophisticated suspension system comprising Ohlins NIX30 43mm dia. TiN coated forks with electronic compression and rebound adjustment and Ohlins TTX36 monoshock with electronic compression and rebound adjustment, and adjustable linkage, DES – Ducati Electronic Suspension control, Ohlins steering damper, Marchesini forged light alloy wheels, Full LED lighting and a Ducati Corse Carbon Fibre front hugger. All of this took the price of the base bike from £15750 to £19750 for the rather more special ‘S’ and at launch it was only surpassed by the similar specification ‘Tricolore S’ model

An utterly fabulous machine, the Panigale 1199 R launched in 2013 and shared virtually nothing in common with it’s forebear, the 1198 R. Most significantly, it was frameless, using it’s engine and airbox as it’s chassis where the engine itself acts as a stressed member

The ‘R’ was the fourth variant of the ‘new’ 1199 range and followed the original launch models, those being the the ‘1199’, the ‘1199 S’ and the hitherto this point range topping ‘1199 Tricolore S’. List price when new in 2013 was £27000 and the model was, in common with all the Ducati R models that preceded it, the ultimate expression of Ducati’s engineering prowess. It’s raison d’etre solely for the purpose of homologating key parts for racing purposes. It goes without saying that these bikes are rare, exclusive and have a distinct current and future collectability

The motor itself was quite heavily modified over the standard ‘SuperQuadro’ unit, and significantly had titanium rods, a lighter flywheel, DLC anti friction coated rocker arms and revised Mitsubishi fuelling/mapping. This resulted in an internal weight saving of 1.3 kg, lending itself to faster ‘spinning up’ and allowing an increased rev limit of 12000 rpm (+500 rpm over lesser versions) Ducati’s engineers then shortened the bike’s gearing to 15/41, and added a full Termignoni ‘Racing Evo’ exhaust system (officially for ‘track use’ only) which grew crankshaft power to 202bhp. And so, the already fearsome ‘big’ Panigale, became even faster, even noiser, even more monstrous, and of course, even more desirable

The ‘R’ also had a beautifully crafted and finished lightweight aluminium fuel tank, and a 4 way adjustable swingarm pivot. The electronics package includes Switchable power modes, KTRC – Kawasaki Traction Control with 3-way switching, Electronic ABS, LCD instrumentation, Multi-function trip computer and a factory fitted Kawasaki immobiliser system

These are a truly wonderful machine to ride with handling and agility that belies their size and a powerplant unsurpassed by any other motorcycle, totally untemperamental, with a beautiful ‘woofly’ character and massively powerful. Just an incredible machine

The sheer rarity of any TNT 1130 makes it infinitely more ‘special’ than it’s more plentiful rivals, and in this particular case this bike is of course unique.
