MODEL SUMMARY.

Exceptional, original, unmodified example of a Gilera RV 250 NGR in Red/Silver/Black. These were sold in the Italian market only, and to call this bike rare is a massive understatement. Reportedly, there are 2 others in the UK. Well, that may or may not be, but we cannot find another for sale on any of the obvious sites Europe wide. Comparatively, Hen’s Teeth grow on trees

Manufactured in 1989, and registered on an ‘F’ prefix plate, the bike was brought over from Italy in 1999 by it’s collector owner. It remained essentially unused for 19 years, until purchased by it’s 2nd UK owner in 2018. He was a conscientious type, with mechanical know how, and gently recommissioned the bike with new fluids, brake pads, tyres, battery, CDI unit, tank flush, carb strip/clean, bearings/linkages stripped/cleaned etc, etc. All the things one has to do with a bike that has had minimal usage

So what we have today, is a virginal bike. Completely original and standard specification, in a quite amazing time warp type condition, and one which starts, runs and rides beautifully. Electric start is most welcome, and it is quite fabulous how easy, and untemperamentally this bike starts and settles in to an even idle.

What is it ? Well its a 38bhp 250cc liquid cooled single, with rotary valve induction and electric start, with a top speed of around 100mph, and spritely acceleration to match. Aimed at the likes of Yamaha’s RD250 and Suzuki’s RG250 of course in the late ’80s. Of very high technical specification, it has Marzocchi forks, Brembo brakes, gas filled rear monoshock, engine balancer shaft, separate oil injection and a thermostatically controlled fan.

Just 2 UK owners since 1999, and 4750 miles (7600 km) from new ensure that this bike presents a rare opportunity for any buyer that values mileage and provenance highly.

Documentation is extensive, and includes it’s original owner’s manual (only ever published in Italian) an original catalogue of spare parts, original technical/repair manual, further technical documentation, period sales brochure, period road tests, old V5s and all original keys.

The previous owner has collated all key servicing information in to an easily ‘at a glance’ format and there really is everything here that one would need to know. He had also collected various parts including a NOS piston and 3 sets of rings, brake calipers, and numerous other hard to find parts. In spite of it’s rarity, one time Gilera UK Concessionaires Bob Wright Motorcycles of Somerset can source and supply a huge amount of mechanical parts for these machines.

A 250cc single cylinder ‘ring-a-ding’ 2 stroke, or smoker as they are affectionately referred to, is a different riding experience with no low down power, torque or engine braking. The little motor needs to be revved, but when it is it will sing in a way no 4 stroke ever will. Just fabulous

This particular bike is a joy to behold for anyone that values originality. A step back in time. In spite of it’s relatively humble specification it would a grace any collection very nicely, and would serve wonderfully for high days and holidays. One thing is for sure, you will not see another one out whilst riding it. What price exclusivity ? MOTd June 2020

MODEL SUMMARY.

2006 06 Reg. Suzuki GSX 1400 K5 in Crystal Red / Nebular Black (code BPJ) Being a K5 model this has a 4-2-1 exhaust, red shock springs, coded (SAIS) keys and revised fuel injection and badging over previous versions. 2 owners from new, and just 7400 miles covered. Supplied new by P&H Motorcycles, and maintained by them, with it’s original stamped service book, service bills/invoices and old MOTs. Last serviced by P&H in December 2018. Good matching Bridgestone BT020/021s. These are a proper old skool twin shock air cooled bike, similar in many ways to Yamaha’s XJR 1300 and Honda’s CB 1300, but more powerful and brutish than both, thanks to it’s 93 lb/ft of torque developed over a wide range, and allowing effortless performance in any gear, at any speed. Lovingly enhanced by it’s original owner, key extras include a Yoshimura Dual Oval exhaust, Headlight shroud and tinted screen, Powerbronze radiator guard, Colour coded Red belly pan, Colour coded Black seat cowl, LED indicators, R&G aero crash bungs, R&G fork protectors, Polished upper and lower yokes with GSX 1400 insignia, Aluminium reservoir caps with GSX 1400 insignia, Gold anodised frame plugs, oil filler cap, fork adjusters, shock mounts + various others, NWS rear hugger and chainguard and Smaller mirrors. It remains a supremely comfortable, effortless cruiser, with more than a touch of style and class. Not perfect condition, it displays minor signs of age to some of the chrome and fasteners, but totally original, and overall a very bright and smart bike. MODEL SUMMARY.

Wow ! Utterly magnificent, pristine example of a 2008 08 registered Yamaha YZF-R1 4C8 in Blue and White with Gold Wheels.

9500 miles with supplying franchised Yamaha dealer service history including it’s original stamped service book with 11 franchised Yamaha dealer stamps.

Serviced every single year without exception, with numerous service bills/invoices and old MOTs. Brand new Pirelli Diablo Supercorsas just fitted.

Totally standard, untouched, unmodified bike other than for a Yamaha tank pad, R&G tail tidy (with original provided) R&G paddock stand bobbins and an Optimate flylead.

The 5th Generation 4C8 bikes were heavily revised over the previous models and had a completely new frame, forks and swingarm, 6 pot calipers, 4v per cylinder engine and new induction technology to raise power output to 180bhp. This naturally grew the R1’s fearsome reputation with a 180mph top speed, and the 1/4 mile in just over 10s.

Pristine, and original, this is one of the very best 4C8s to be found, with quite superb, unblemished service history. Possibly a little early to be considering these collectible, but if you are looking to put one away, then without any doubt this is the one. No disappointments, come and see it for yourself. Meta S4 CAT1 alarm/immobiliser and factory fitted CAT 2 Yamaha immobiliser system. All books/manuals/documents/keys (including Red Master) present.

MODEL SUMMARY.

Very rare to find UK supplied Suzuki GSX-R 750-J ‘Slingshot’ in Red/White.

UK supplied through Heron Suzuki GB network by The London Suzuki Centre and registered April 1989 on an ‘F’ prefix, this is a lovely example of a GSX-R 750-J ‘Slingshot’, that is extremely original, and retaining all it’s key original specification.

Just 5 owners from new, including us, we have full ownership provenance for the bike with full details for each and every owner from new. Significantly, it had just one owner for the 23 year period between 1992 and 2015 and was barely used during this time. The mileage of 15000 is believed to be genuine.

Then purchased by a motorcycle restoration business, the bike’s all original painwork was in good order, with only minimal attention required. However, the bike was subject to a comprehensive mechanical overhaul including (briefly) new wheelbearings, chain/sprockets, forks stripped/rebuilt/all new seals and re-satinised, rear shock stripped/rebuilt/painted, wheels powdercoated, yokes stripped/refinished/new bearings, carbs/stripped/cleaned/rebuilt with Dynojet 3 kit, all suspension linkages stripped/cleaned/regreased and levers/footpegs/hangers stripped and re-satinised.

With everything back together, the bike was set up by Dynobike, complete with Dynojet 3 kit, K&N filter and it’s original period Yoshimura exhaust, to give 96 rwhp (with print out provided)

We bought the bike from the restoration company in 2015, to go with our own personal collection of bikes. The bike is totally fit and healthy, and just rides beautifully. Properly quick, and just sounds utterly superb.

Recently had Motul 5100 10w/40 semi synthetic oil and filter and it will have a new MOT provided at point of sale.

Anyone with an interest in these things will appreciate how hard it is to come by a bike like this nowadays, and it clearly presents a rare opportunity. As a Heron Suzuki UK supplied bike, and with known ownership provenance from new, it sets itself apart very clearly from the more common imported machines of which generally next to nothing is known of their previous existence. A useable classic to grace and enhance any collection.

MODEL SUMMARY.

Highly original, lightly restored Suzuki GS1000 E in Black. The pictures ably demonstrate how smart and clean this bike is.

UK supplied and registered September 1979 on a ‘V’ suffix, this is a lovely example of an earlyish GS1000 E, that is extremely original, and very clean. Retains all it’s key specification including original air forks, air shocks and silencers.

Lightly restored in 2014 by Moto Strada Ltd of Lincoln it is in genuinely excellent order, All chrome and brightwork, wheels and paintwork is excellent and the bike rides and performs superbly. Some ageing/patina to the engine casings etc, but all in all very smart, and becoming ever so rare now.

We have owned the bike personally for a number of years, having taken it in part exchange. To cut a long story short, we enjoyed riding the bike so much we decided to keep it for sunny Sunday morning ride outs with some of our friend’s similar vintage machines.

Touted by Suzuki upon it’s launch as ‘The Fast One’ these GS1000s were the fastest bikes of their day, eclipsing exotica such as the Laverda Jota. A sub 12s 1/4 mile time, blowing the then current Porsche 911 Turbo into the weeds, remains fast today, let alone 40 years ago, and all without a hint of temperament. The bike is totally fit and healthy, and just rides beautifully. Properly quick, very good brakes, easy, surprisingly agile handling, and supremely comfortable, we always feel we are cheating a little when we are in a group of 10 year older Norton Commandos, Honda CB750s, or Suzuki T500Rs, for example, as this bike is so modern by comparison, and soooo much faster. Just a very nice machine for pleasure riding.

We have some service bills, and old MOTs, along with a previous bill of sale from Moto Strada. Recently had Motul 5100 10w/40 semi synthetic oil and filter and it will have a new MOT provided at point of sale.

So there it is, a very useable classic in highly original condition and specification, but with none of the usual classic bike issues that can reduce pleasure of ownership. This bike will start on the button, each and every time, and can be relied upon implicitly. A lovely old girl !

MODEL SUMMARY.

Ducati 996 SPS, no. 1471 in Ducati Rosso Corsa with Grey lightweight Marchesini 5 spoke rims and Ducati Performance white gel numberboard . UK supplied by Ducati franchised dealers M&S Motorcycles of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Registered May 2000 on a ’W’ prefix, this is a final specification bike with Ohlins forks and more subtle graphics.

Just 11700 miles with service history and paperwork, including it’s original service book + all original manuals, service bills/invoices and old MOTs. Will have new timing belts and fresh Shell Ultra advance fully synthetic oil at point of sale. Recent fuel filter, plugs and cooling system flush/refill

The SPS model was the ultimate incarnation of the Desmoquattro motor, just prior to the updated ‘Testastretta’ version that appeared in the 996R. It’s motor was heavily reworked with revised cams, bigger valves and ports, titanium con rods, lighter crankshaft and a carbon fibre airbox. The net result was 123bhp / 73 lb/ft but that only tells half the story. Anyone with an appreciation of these things will instantly notice how quickly the motor responds to the throttle, and with such a hard edged, crisp, note, totally different to it’s lesser brethren. An engineering jewel, and a quite magnificent, highly exotic engine. The transmission utilised a higher primary ratio, thereby ‘shortening’ the gearing.

The specification included the best of everything, the afforementioned carbon fibre airbox, fully adjustable 43mm dia. Ohlins forks, fully adjustable Ohlins rear shock, fully adjustable Ohlins steering damper, Ducati Corse Carbon fibre belly pan / undertray, Ducati Corse Carbon fibre front hugger, Brembo Gold calipers with 320mm dia. front discs, lightweight Marchesini 5 spoke wheels in Grey, single sided swingarm in natural aluminium, 102 db Termignoni exhausts and dedicated ECU,  adjustable levers with Brembo master cylinders and remote reservoirs and Ducati Monoposto seat unit in Red/White.

Additionally this particular bike has some upgrades fitted including a carbon fibre exhaust heat shield, carbon fibre heel plates, carbon fibre swingarm protector, carbon fibre chain guard, a Ducati Corse tank protector, tinted screen, alloy front sprocket cover, open clutch cover with DucaBike anodised pressure plate and spring caps, and adjustable rearsets.

This bike will appeal to any buyer that places great importance on originality, and ownership provenance, two of the most important factors, in our view, when purchasing any collectible car or motorcycle.

A wonderful machine, and one which we have owned personally for a number of years. New MOT provided at point of sale

MODEL SUMMARY.

Ducati 999S Factory Mono in Ducati Rosso Anniversario with Grey Marchesini 10 spoke rims. UK supplied by Ducati franchised dealers Pegasus of Reading. Registered April 2003 on an ’03’ plate, this is the much rarer ‘early’ type with silver frame and cast swingarm.

It is totally stock, standard, untouched, unmodified, immaculate, and as it left the factory. Just 2500 miles with lots of history and paperwork including it’s original service book + all original manuals, the original bill of sale, original PDI certificate, service bills/invoices including supply/fit of the Termignonis/ECU at 1st service, old MOTs and all keys (including number tag)

Just had timing belts using Ducati o.e ‘Red Kevlar’ belts, fresh Shell Ultra advance fully synthetic oil and spark plugs

This bike will appeal to any buyer that places great importance on originality, mileage and condition, three of the most important factors, in our view, when purchasing any collectible car or motorcycle.

The Ducati 999 followed the much loved 916/996/998 Massimo Tamburini designed series. Penned by Pierre Terblanche, it became one of the most successful race bikes every produced by Ducati Corse, winning 3 out of 5 World Superbike titles between 2003 and 2007.

It was a huge step forward in many ways, not least being the first motorcycle in the world to utilise CAN bus wiring and electronics, that being in simplistic terms where individual cables and wires serve more than one purpose, or circuit. All 999 variants had the ‘Testastretta’ motor, previously seen in the earlier 996R and 998S models, and literally translated as ‘Narrow Head’ enabling a reduced included angle between the valves, this allowing bigger valves, and necessitating significant re-engineering and re-location of one half of the desmodromic valve gear.

In higher ‘S’ specification, as with our bike here, the motor produced 136 bhp (140 ps) and was significantly up on the the ‘standard’ 999 model’s 123bhp. The motor also utilised higher specification materials for the the con rods, valves and pistons, and had a ‘deep sump’ which naturally made for cooler internal crankcase temperatures.

The rest of the ‘S’ enhancements focused on fully adjustable TiN coated Ohlins forks with a fully adjustable Ohlins rear shock unit, lighter Marchesini rims, and optional (fitted here) full Termignoni exhaust system with accompanying re-map/ECU chip, alongside Brembo 4 piston calipers, 320mm dia. front brake discs, steering damper, easily released fairings and body panels, and quick to replace dry clutch (of course)

Factory Mono bikes, as here, had a unique, lighter subframe, which did not include a facility for pillion footpeg fitment.

Clearly, this particular bike, with consideration given to it’s very low mileage, originality, and completely standard specification, is a very rare thing indeed today. Far too good to be purchased for general usage, it would compliment any car or bike collection, at any financial level, very nicely, whilst still providing thrills a plenty for those sunny summer high days and holidays. A truly wonderful machine, and one which we have owned personally for a number of years. New MOT provided at point of sale
